Dog Training Santa Rosa – Yes, young and old dogs can learn new tricks with dog training! With several professional dog trainers and tons of classes we are confident you will find the perfect fit for you and your pooch. We provide a variety of different training classes out of our Santa Rosa location. Our dog trainers are hand-selected for their knowledge, skill, and philosophy on dog training. Puppy classes require at least 2 DHLPP vaccines.

Puppy Social: For puppies 12wks-5 months old, drop-in FREE

This supervised playgroup focuses on socialization and is designed to teach your puppy positive play skills, explore new environments and build confidence while playing with other puppies and meeting new friendly people. Class is held in our private dog park (or inside during rain) where puppies can run thru tunnels, over logs and other natural obstacles. Size considerations are made for small breed puppies and will split the class as needed to keep it safe and fun. Puppys must have a at least 2 sets of vaccinations. No treats in the park please

Adolescent Puppy Social: For puppies 6-12 months old, drop-in $10

This supervised playgroup focuses on socialization and is designed to teach your puppy positive play skills, explore new environments and build confidence while playing with other puppies and meeting new friendly people. Polite & Playful Puppy: For puppies 12wks-8 months old, drop-in $25

This class nurtures young students, helping them become happy, healthy, polite and housebroken.

Basic Obedience: Name recognition, Watch, Come, Sit and Down, Walking on a leash

Manners: Mouthing, Barking, Jumping, House-training, Crate training, Leave it, Drop-it

Supplies: Collar (flat or martingale) with 6′ lead & soft high value (really yummy) treats.

Puppy Agility: For Puppies 3-12mo, drop-in $25

Bond with your puppy learning to navigate tunnels, A-frames, small jumps and more. Puppies gain confidence while having fun doing age appropriate obstacles. Supplies: Collar (flat or martingale) with 6′ lead & soft high value (really yummy) treats.

Level 1, Obedience: For dogs 7 months & older, drop-in $25

Basic Obedience and Manners is the foundation for many classes. It is for dogs and handlers who need to start at the beginning. This class will teach you and your pooch how basic cues can help with good manners and proper leash etiquette. Because it is a drop in class, lessons rotate every 3 weeks and include:

Basic Obedience: Watch (focus), Sit, Down, Come, Stay, Touch, Walking on a Leash

Manners: Not jumping, Sit to greet,  Wait at a door or barrier, Leave it, Drop-it

Management Skills: Go to place (settle on a mat or bed), Leave it (an object or distraction)

Supplies: Collar (flat or martingale) with 6′ lead & soft high value (really yummy) treats.

Level 2, Obedience: For dogs 7 months & older, drop-in $25

Got the basics? Areas of Focus in Level 2 you’ll learn to systematically add distraction to strengthen your dog’s obedience and manners cues. Because it is a drop in class, lessons rotate every 3 weeks and include:

Obedience: Focused heel, Stand, Finish, Long-leash distance work, including stay and recall

Manners: Learning to stay in place in distraction, Proper meet-and-greet etiquette, Passing other dogs on leash

Supplies: Collar (flat or martingale) with 6′ lead, 20′ long line & soft high value (really yummy) treats.

Workshop (rotating): For dogs 6 months & older, drop-in $25

Having a problem with something specific? A whole class devoted to 1 skill might be the answer. Workshops are done on rotation and include

Recall – other wise know as “come”. Learn how to get your dog to come working up to distance and with distractions.

Loose Leash Walking –  Stop the pulling, save your arms!

AKC Canine Good Citizen “CGC” prep: For dogs 7 months & older, 3 week class $75

The AKC’s Canine Good Citizen program is recognized as the gold standard for dog behavior. In CGC, dogs who pass the 10 step CGC test can earn a certificate (testing done at K9 Activity Club by a different trainer than the one giving the class for an additional fee) and/or the official AKC CGC title. Dogs with the CGC title have the suffix, “CGC” after their names. The Canine Good Citizen Program lays the foundation for other AKC activities such as obedience, agility, tracking, and performance events. As you work with your dog to teach the CGC skills, you’ll discover the many benefits and joys of training your dog. Training will enhance the bond between you and your dog. Dogs who have a solid obedience education are a joy to live with-they respond well to household routines, have good manners in the presence of people and other dogs, and they fully enjoy the company of the owner who took the time to provide training, intellectual stimulation, and a high quality life. AKC Canine Good Citizen Test: AKC CGC® Approved Evaluator will conduct the test monthly $18 or $30 w/AKC title

AKC Community Canine: For dogs 7 months & older, 3 week class $75

Advanced CGC or AKC Community Canine extends the skills learned in CGC to the community. Dogs who pass the AKC Community Canine test are eligible to earn the “CGCA” (Advanced CGC) title.

Level 1 Agility for Fun: For Dogs 12mo & older, drop-in $25

Agility is a fun way to exercise your dog while building a working relationship. Dogs learn to navigate tunnels, A-frames, weave poles, jumps and more while working off leash with their handler. Our classes are designed to teach the dog and handler to run a course. Agility will have your dog jumping for joy and working with purpose. Supplies: Collar (flat or martingale) with 6′ lead & soft high value (really yummy) treats.

Level 2 Agility for Fun: For Dog 12mo & older, drop in $25

Great for dogs that have completed Agility 1 or with prior Agility training. Dogs & handlers gain advanced skills with fun new courses. Supplies: Collar (flat or martingale) with 6′ lead & soft high value (really yummy) treats.

Agility Skills & Drills: For Dogs 6mo & older, pre-register 3 classes for $75

Dock Diving Intro: For dogs 6 months & older, drop in $25

The sport of dock diving is growing fast! Dogs compete at jumping the farthest in a huge outdoor pool. Learn the basics in our indoor pool! Life jackets provided. Please be dressed for over-spray, wet dogs sometimes = wet owners. Supplies: Please bring a towel, flat collar with 6′ lead (ok to get wet) & soft high value (really yummy) treats. 

Swim Lessons: For dogs any age, pre-register $25

Not all dogs are natural swimmers. Dogs can learn to swim for safety and fun in our indoor heated pool. A trainer will be in the water with this small group class. Life jackets provided. Please be dressed for over-spray, wet dogs sometimes = wet owners. Supplies: Please bring a towel, flat collar with 6′ lead (ok to get wet) & soft high value (really yummy) treats. 

Shaping Success w/ Clicker Basics: for dogs any age, drop in $25

Beginner obedience using clicker training to shape behaviors in a positive way. The same methods used to train dolphins and elephants, clicker training is a dog (or any animal) training method that relies on marking desirable behavior and rewarding it. Desirable behavior is usually marked by using a “clicker,” a mechanical device that makes a short, distinct “click” sound which tells the animal exactly when they’re doing the right thing. This clear form of communication, combined with positive reinforcement, is an effective, safe, and fun way to teach dogs new behaviors. Supplies: Clicker (avail for purchase at K9 Activity Club) flat collar and soft high value (really yummy) treats.

K9 Tricks & Hollywood Star Training: For dogs any age, drop in $25

K9 Trick training classes are a fantastic way to have more fun and build a stronger relationship with your canine friend. Your dog can learn many of the old standards like Shake, Beg and Roll Over, but there are also lots of antics like Scratch, High Five, Fix your Hair, Wave Bye-Bye. Our tricks classes also encompass doggie dance moves like weaving through your legs, walking backward and spinning in circles. Hollywood Star Training focuses on skills needed for TV, Commercials & Movies. We hold casting calls occasionally to introduce your dog to the pros! These classes are great fun for all participants, human and canine alike! If you want to have more fun with your dog and provide some great mental stimulation for Fido, sign up for a trick training class! Rescue Rover: For all aged dogs & puppies, Drop-in 1 FREE session per dog

A special class designed just for dogs adopted/rescue dogs and their new people. This class covers a lot of material; training tools, skills like Basic Obedience, Manners, Management & and trainer recommendations on next steps in training. Our goal is to set you up for a lifetime of success with your dog and to be your resource moving forward. Supplies: Collar (flat or martingale) with 6′ lead & soft high value (really yummy) treats.

Rover NOSE Best: for dogs over 6 months, 4 week class $100

Inspired by working detection dogs, K9 Nose Work is the fun search and scenting activity for virtually all dogs and people. This easy to learn activity and sport builds confidence and focus in many dogs, and provides a safe way to keep dogs fit and healthy through mental and physical exercise.

K9 Nose Work starts with getting your dog excited about using his nose to seek out a favorite toy or treat reward hidden in one of several boxes, expanding the game to entire rooms, exterior areas, and vehicles. As your dog grows more confident with his nose, target odors are introduced. Supplies: Collar with 6′ lead & soft high value (really yummy) treats. 

Reactive Rover: For dogs 7 months & older, 4 week class $125

In this class we will show you how to change your dog’s reactive behavior. You will learn to lower stress (in both you and your dog), build calmness and attention, train alternate behaviors to reactivity and/or over arousal, reinforce the absence of reactivity, and most importantly build your dog’s confidence and trust in you providing a safe emotional state which will facilitate behavior change.  Supplies: Collar, flat or martingale (ok to bring a choke or pinch, will be used only if trainer recommends) with 6′ lead & soft high value (really yummy) treats.

Behavior Modification: any age, 4 week class $160

A semi-private class with a max of 4 students that focuses on modifying specific or troubling behaviors….. Class is 60-90 min depending on need. Supplies: Collar, flat or martingale (ok to bring a choke or pinch, will be used only if trainer recommends) with 6′ lead & soft high value (really yummy) treats.

Dogs in Service Intro & Skills: any age, drop-in $25

Dogs have been used for ages in service to man. This class focuses on the three different types of service training: Service Dog, Therapy Dog & Emotional Support Dog. There are NO certifications given. ALL dogs/owner teams must first attend the Intro class before the Skills class.  Supplies: Collar, flat or martingale (ok to bring a choke or pinch, will be used only if trainer recommends) with 6′ lead & soft high value (really yummy) treats.


Private Training by Appointment

  • Private 1 on 1 Training 4 sessions for $250 or $75 ea
